INTRODUCTION OF LUXURY MOTOR COACHES

In the late 1970's the company expanded to include charter motor coaches. The motor coach operation grew to be a major component of the business. It became and continues to be the largest privately owned luxury charter motor coach provider in Saskatchewan.

Three 1971 Blue Bird buses, purchased by Prince Albert Bus Lines to complete the franchise with the city arrived in the city during the weekend. They will go into service shortly after March 15, Steve Ruznisky, general manager of the bus lines said today.

In the agreement set out by the city, four 1967 buses were purchased by the city and the bus lines had to purchase four buses, one of which was bought at the time of the city purchase. Another was bought later, which with the latest arrivals brings the total to nine.

Mr Ruznisky said free rides will be given the first day of service. As well, with extra buses will come extra routes and service during busy hours.

The buses are similar in design to the 1967 models, however, added attractions include an anti-pollution device on engines, a change in the step wells from two to three steps, three extra heat blowers, fluorescent lights, deluxe seats, brighter interior, and increase in seating capacity from 39 to 42 persons, Steve Kitar, president of Blue Bird Bus Sales said.

The buses were driven from Brantford under the supervision of Morris Ruznisky and drivers Mike Markewich and John Nemish
